Our weekend outing was to Filoli in Woodside, Cali Our weekend outing was to Filoli in Woodside, California for Orchard Days. Held every weekend in October, you can explore acres of orchards and gardens, have a picnic and go inside the historic house. The kids had so much fun exploring! . . Tickets are still available for the remaining weekend days in October and must be purchased ahead of time. Adults are $25, Seniors (65 and up) are $22, Children (5-17) are $15 and Students/Teachers/Military are $20. Children under 5 are free. . . Soaking up the last days of the extended summer we Soaking up the last days of the extended summer we always seem to get in California this time of year. . . We took work and school on the road this week and it has been a fantastic experience! We have towering redwood trees right outside our door and a private dock on the river with a canoe, kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard that we've been using daily. A little #tbt and #travelthursday mixed together! A little #tbt and #travelthursday mixed together! From my 2006 visit to the Galapagos Islands (still one of my favorite trips of all time!). . . I attended a webinar from @gadventures yesterday on the topic of what the future of travel looks like and it was really moving. One of the panelists shared a story about asking people why they visited a place and the response these days being about getting that Instagram-worthy shot and that's it. They also shared a question that I'll take to heart as I plan my (hopefully) 2021 travels: why do I want to visit this particular place? Digging into this more will be very insightful. . . Travel has always been a passion of mine - the new places, meeting people (both fellow travelers and locals), trying new foods and, yes, sometimes that amazing photo. But, I want to think about how I'll travel differently in a post-pandemic world - between sustainable travel and helping communities impacted by the pause on tourism, there's a lot to consider. . . One of the fun things we did last weekend in Mendo One of the fun things we did last weekend in Mendocino was visit the Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. . . You might think, a glass beach does not sound enjoyable but, don't worry, there are no sharp chards! 😄 . . Up until the late 1960s, the city's trash was dumped into the ocean. Cleanup began in the 70s but things like glass and pottery have remained. The result is bright colored pebbles you'll find sprinkled among the sand and rock (Swipe ➡️ to see what it looks like!) . . Planning a visit? It can get crowded on weekends so aim for a weekday, if possible. No fees for parking or entry. Ample street parking as well. . .
